I’m Emma Terjesen, an interior designer. I specialize in hospitality and public interiors.
Personal style:
I create eclectic interiors that balance hard and soft elements, using contrast to highlight the fundamentals of design and craft harmonious, dynamic spaces in hospitality design. I believe it’s important to create natural focal points, allowing guests to rest visually on the key elements of a space. The design should guide people intuitively through the room, creating a seamless flow and experience.
Client focus
I focus on my clients’ wishes and aim to bring their vision to life in the spaces I create. My process is highly research-driven: before designing, I seek to understand every aspect of the project, the venue’s needs, its target demographic, the location, and the overall theme the client wants.
By conducting thorough research upfront, I am able to anticipate challenges and navigate them more efficiently as the design develops. The spaces I have created are diverse, each tailored to meet the unique goals and contextual requirements of individual clients.
Purpose:
I want people to form a connection with the spaces I create, to awaken curiosity, and to spark a dialogue between form, function, and feeling.
Feel free to explore my portfolio to see how these principles come to life in past projects.

I have worked as the head of warm food in a canteen serving around 40–60 people.
This experience strengthened my time management skills and my ability to collaborate effectively with a team.
I have also worked as a research technician at a research facility for aquaculture.
This role taught me the importance of careful planning, structured processes, and adaptability, as each project required different approaches and frameworks. I have especially applied these skills to my design process.
